The Vodafone one sounds a good deal. But, and there is usually always a Big "But", if a thing sounds too good to true, it tends to be not as great as it sounds in reality. For I have found Vodafone to be one of the more expensive mobile networks. However, don't know if this deal would be for mobile fone internet only, or house internet, such as BT does with Landline and internet, etc. And BT ain't cheap!

More on this topic ; www.moneysavingexpert.com/compare-broadband-deals/broadband-social-tariffs/I am considering the Vodaphone offer. I've been using my phone as a mobile hotspot to connect and in the round it's been ok. But streaming TV on iPlayer etc tends to be very glitchy. Whether it will be much better with a proper broadband connection I don't know, but I would guess it would be. But i still maintain that when 5G is rolled out that should prove much better for everyone.

Some of these deals might, and that 's a big might, have a download limit. if so it wouldn't be for me as I download about 2GB of data a month through streaming content from sites like tubi and SBS, they are US and Australian geo locked content sites.

Hi terminator nice to see you back posting again. I think I get about 30GB data per month from SMARTY for a tenner which I pay on a regular PAYPAL payment. The only problem with streaming could come with a bit of buffering unless you can get 5G and have a 5G handset. I still can't get it but when i do that's what I plan to do. Maybe get a Motorola G50 or a Nokia G50. Then tether my laptop to it like I do now but only with a 4G connection. Works fine for me anyway.

Ok so I.ve now gone in for the Vodaphone offer. I'm getting connected on 19th June so will let you know how it goes re; download limits and speed etc. I have also started using Proton Free VPN which routes me through Holland, Japan or USA IP addresses. Seems ok so far.

I didn't cancel. online chat doesn't work. nothing happens when you click it and phone just sends you round the houses clicking numbers, entering numbers and the just says sorry I didn't quite catch that. I gave up in the end. Will try again later. Or maybe they just want me to give up !!!!

Have you still got the other contract going, and has Vodafone billed you for anything so far? Sounds like they are at it. I'd be for cancelling, if they go on like that.

Hi gordo, I didn't have another contract going as I'd cancelled my talk talk a good while back and have instead been connecting via my SMARTY mobile as a "hotspot" for about a year. I've been up and running with Vodafone now for a couple of weeks and seems ok. Speeds are good but phone still not connected it seems. I will do an online chat with them about that soon. It's a new fibre line that the guy hung from the pole outside. The phone line is digital but all I can hear is interference when I plug my phone into the router. Also no mention in the contract of any download limits, so assume it's unlimited.

Apparently some people are being told they cannot have the social tariffs, a friend whose on UC/ESA was told they couldn't get it but was paying BT £37 per month for phone and BB he complained and they have eventually given in and move him onto the social tariff 10th July. They tried the you're under contract until time so you will be hit with termination charges con but he replied that his minimum contract period ran out on 31/3/23. He initially started to move to the social tariff on 1/4/23 the day after his contract ran out.

It's been well over a month now since I started my Vodafone £12 a month and am very pleased with it. Speeds are as advertised. There's been no down grading to less than 36 mb speed. Still haven't used the phone and suspect I might need some sort of gizmo to use a normal non digital phone with it. Also I'm not entirely clear what the call charges are. Best stick to the mobile for that I think which is ok. As I've said I'm still on the £10 SMARTY deal. Both deal are PAYG. No contracts.

I never use my landline, I have a warden intercom service and that costs me 33p per month in call charges but as soon as I can get a BB service that I can use no landline connection with the service is going as it's an expense I can do without.
