That stupid know nothing MP was on the wireless last night. BBC Radio Four's World Tonight program. ( 10pm News) where he was challenged on his comments. Hearing this dude was a bit depressing, that we have such ignorant and insensitive things in Parliament!!
It turns out his "30 pence" a meal mush, comes from him supposedly talking to chefs who make meals using fresh ingredients in hospitals and schools and the like. He tells us this after he was asked how could he make a meal from scratch at 30 pence! Now, it occurs to me, that if any chef told him a meal was "30 pence", then that is how it must break down per cost per individual meal, out of say, hundreds if not thousands! So that is where mad MP got that impossible figure from. He didn't answer that point of how he could do it, by the way.
He omits or ignores the fact, those chefs are getting all those fresh ingredients in bulk, and can afford to come up with such a figure for what they are doing. Tho I'd question just how fresh and what ingredients they must be using to get such a cheap figure, even if out of hundreds of meals. But we can bet, not one of those chefs would say it is possible for individuals to make up a meal for 30 pence. You couldn't even make a sandwich at home for that
If this crazed MP really does believe you can do a meal for 30 pence of any kind, then he is clearly not a fit and proper person to be let out his house, never mind be in Public Office!

I'd like the MP to try doing the 30p per meal challenge! as I reckon he would fail measurably or cheat and claim he did it. I live on £2.50 per day that's £910 per year.
I eat well for that with chicken, rice and cooking sauces plus other meals throughout the day. I cook the majority from scratch minus the prepared sauces and other food items. I buy 2.5Kg of chicken breasts for £11.49 and halve each breast making around 20 meals this works out at around 63p for each half breast with 20p for the sauce and 9p for the rice and with desert it works out at around £1.20 per meal. I do occasionally have something like beans on toast or tinned tomato's on toast but that is rare.

You are seriously well organised terminator. I tell you that. Beans on toast is what Stuart Pearce used to have before a match.

That's okay but these idiot MPs don't take into consideration the extras we have to buy - Cleaning and personal products. What if your cooker breaks or the washing machine or any domestic appliance. We all have to pull out for something that gives up yearly, it's just a fact of life that things break. Being disabled is extra cost as well - needing special foods or equipment that needs electricity etc etc. They really are living in another world. It would do them all good to live ONE FULL YEAR on benefits in a house that's rented and in poor disrepair. They'd soon realise what poor benefits we have in this miserable country.
