I'm wondering if any folks have found this payment system put in place, just a wee bit confusing? For it seems that those who pay bills the old fashioned way, that is, when the Bill comes in, (and who keep costs down paying every so often with a card, etc) are missing out! There appears no way whatsoever, of such customers knowing how much, if anything, has gone into their electricity bill accounts. Those on Direct Debits can see money refunded into their Banks. Those on prepaid meters get vouchers they can redeem at the Post Office.
But this 3rd group, have in effect nothing, and the power supplier still expect them to keep up with regular payments. Well so I've been told, which in effect means, this 3rd group, are totally in the dark (if you get that one) as to what is actually happening, and what they can expect from their Bills next time they come thru. Anyone have a similar problem with this "Help"? for I do know of others in that situation.
And it has already been well noted, there was nothing put in place for Gas, nor for rural folks (mainly) who have to use oil or other forms of heating.

It's all getting a bit real for me now. Outfox have just emailed; DIRECR DEBIT CHANGE. I'm thinking maybe 20% extra. They've more than doubled it !

I pay the old fashioned way also on receipt of the bill every three months, SP have emailed me at the start of each month since october saying they have applied the £67 energy rebate to my account, I assume it's because I have an online account with them even though I never pay the bill via the account I always pay it with cash at my local paypoint outlet. But I can check they have applied the rebate by logging in and so far they have paid 4x£67 payments.

I'm starting to think that's the way to do it rather than by DD, although I thought DD was meant to be cheaper. You won't believe this but my DD increased from £54 per month to £175 per month in one fell swoop. Minus the discount they ended up taking £112 from my account last time. What it's going to be this time I will wait and see as I used one heck of a lot of gas in December being at home a lot of the time.

Didn't the Govt warn energy suppliers against raising Direct Debits? I thought too, it had to be agreed between customer and their Bank? Seems anything the Govt. says goes nowhere, and actually, it appears the uk Govt. is still allowing these companies too do as they please!
