DWP has now given us the dates from when the new Cost of Living payments start to be paid out.
They are due to begin a first set of £301, from April 25th to May 17th. Dates of further payments later in year have yet to be notified. Those on Disability benefits get an additional £150, at some date during summer months, and pensioners, £300 extra.
However, one was rather amused to read in same announcement, UK Govt appears delighted at the new Minimum Wage of £10 42. That, folks, is an increase of six Pounds and ten pence, (£6.10) in 20 years!!! In April 2003, the MinWage, which, let us not forget, the tories opposed most bitterly, was all of £4.32, having gone up that April by just 12 pence, from £4 20. But now, the tories think a rise of a few pence over £6.00 in a 20 year period is something exceptional, Huh!

I got a text the other day confirming this £301 as gordo said in the dates above. You know whats really shocking, the more you think about it. The basic state provision rate, call it what ever the hell you want; so called "jobseekers" or "universal credit" call it ESA call it anything you like. but the basic rate has hardly risen in 13 years. see here; researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN06762/SN06762.pdfIt's an unreported national scandal.
