If Aldi are the lowest priced supermarket then they must be taking a similar hit in their profits. Both Aldi and Lidl rely on their own brand products rather than named brands although they do sell some named brand products that I believe are oversupply or surplus to requirements and sell them to stores like Aldi and Lidl who then sell them at a lower price, although not much lower than the main supermarkets sell them for.
Lidl is just 0.3 miles from me, the same distance as the Morrisons store but my weekly shopping is around £4 cheaper in Lidl that's why I shop at Lidl.

And I've just come back from Morrissons who looking at by bill charged me 99p for some hot dog sausages when the only reason I put them in my basket was because they were down to 70p on the shelf. That's not the first time that's happened either. I forgot to check. Stupid. Lidl looks like it's still owned by this Schwarz family. Dieter is about 83 and worth 10's of billions himself. They don't seem to be pychopaths like a lot of these billionaires. Neither are the family who own Home Bargains. Founded by one Tom Morris in 1976 when he was 21.
