I have this OLIO app on my phone and daily get updates on food that has been collected from Tesco's, Iceland and the like by people who live nearby and give it away. It's stuff that the supermarket would have had to throw out. I have 2 people who live just around the corner who put stuff up. I don't request often but I've noticed that Bread often doesn't get taken. I currently have 6 Sourdough Loaves in my freezer from Tesco. That's good toasted for breakfast. I collected them all at once.

Personally I don't use these kind of apps as most of the time it's just things like sandwiches and the like. I make my own bread so any reduced price or free bread wouldn't appeal to me. I normally wait until Lidl opens after the new year then fill my freezer with meat costing between 90p and £2 per item.
One thing I noticed in Lidl this year was that they had about 5 large gammon joints that had a use by date of 3/1/23 that were not reduced, when I asked they said they will be reduced on the 3/1/23 it was a good job I didn't go back to the store on the 3rd Jan because my freezer was overpacked with the meats I had bought on the 2nd.
