Tory Conference time and as if to surprise us they are talking tough on benefits. Making out that they are going to get even tougher on people who can't get a job for love nor money because they've been out of work for too long. The message from this Forum is don't worry about it. It's all just vote fodder for the idiots in society who are susceptible to this kind of hate speech. Because that's what it is. Be easy. Go for a walk.

I find it rather surprising the Chancellor seems totally unaware of the very, very strict rules already in place! Of course as you say above, Phil, it is him merely doing what the tories love to do, and that is blame the poor for all the ills of Society! It is also quite insulting he tries to claim a pay rise to £11.00 an hour will take "hard working " ppl out of poverty. Considering many jobs paying the Min Wage are part time, that will hardly take them out of poverty. And also, the Min Wage has not even gone £7.00 in 20 years!! However, it is a bit concerning they want to redo Work Capability Assessments.
In mid September, the Govt launched an anti suicide initiative, aimed at men. One UK Govt. minister was on the wireless telling us how one such death was awful, etc, etc, etc. She seemed blissfully unaware her very own Govt. has been responsible for hundreds and hundreds. They have learned nothing at all from all the various reports, and actually, they couldn't much care less, either!
