I find it truly outrageous, that a mere television program gets more Govt. attention, than all the news reports and MPs concerns, and lawyers pleas, of over nearly 30 years!!! The fact is, this is all about Govt. delaying for as long as possible having to pay out compensation, to save having to pay anything! Doesn't matter be it the Blood Transfusion calamity, or Windrush, Asbestos, etc, etc, or anything else. Govt. drags on and on for as long as it sees fit, to avoid paying anything to anybody! Look, this Post Office debacle, has been well known about for years and years. Radio Four recently ran a serious of wireless programs on this, and was hard hitting stuff. We never saw overmuch Govt. urgency to act then. But now, all of a big sudden, this is the newest thing on the block, as if it was only just yesterday! And Labour politicians should take note, this all began under the Blair/Brown Administration. They can't wash their hands of it, for a start. Then we had the current Lib Dem "Leader" in charge during the Cameron/Clegg regime. That Lib Demer has come under particular criticism, mainly for his grovelling approach to the Post Office. Senior folks in Government must have been more than well aware of what was going on, yet they did nothing in all those years, and so still today, we have this ongoing scandal. It is appalling. from ITV News................... www.itv.com/news/2024-01-08/petition-to-strip-former-post-office-boss-of-cbe-passes-1-million-signatures

These postmasters should get compensation in the hundreds of thousands per postmaster. They should also be compensated all the costs they spent on defending themselves plus and fines they received refunded. If they were sent to prison then they should receive £1000 per day they served in prison plus the sentence being quashed. Any government that delays in order to minimise pay-outs by those due compensation must be put out of office ASAP. Any compensation to those who have died and have living relatives should see the pay-out shared amongst the relatives who benefited from the will of the deceased postmaster.
