I never buy food that prepared and ready to cook, I always cook from scratch. A large chicken can last me all week and a bag of potato's 2.5Kg the same time. The only thing I buy otherwise is frozen veg, I still have some lasagne sheets from years ago, I think the best bbe date is sometime in early 2019. IMO the prepared food cost as much to reheat as it does to cook from scratch but I use an air fryer so it saves me even more as the air fryer is a small oven that heats up in a few minutes and I always put stuff in from cold.
By cooking from scratch I know exactly what's in the food I'm eating whether it's mince and mash to a chicken and veg pie.

Good policy. Also a lot healthier as most processed stuff is the cause of obesity and even diabetes which is caused by 5 grams of fat in the pancreas. Get rid of that and most people recover from type 2 diabetes.
