I keep saying that these so called refugees are no more than illegal immigrants in about 90% of the cases. They claim to speak little or no English but if they were spoken to by an interpreter in the language they spoke the country of origin would soon be known and if they were really fleeing wars or similar. They would soon be sent back but they would try something else like they will be persecuted in their own country when all they might be fleeing is a prosecution for a crime they committed in their own country that would mean they spent a long time in prison. It's being reported in the papers that some immigrants have committed crimes like rape whilst awaiting asylum, this could be the crime they are fleeing from back home, so they should be sent back to face their country's prosecution system.

We don't know what % that applies to though. We just are not given facts about these things and politcians use the whole saga to get votes from voters who get exercised about it. Rwanda is a bloody dangerous country from what I've read. the 90% figure you give seems a bit high to me. It needs researching.

I picked the figure at random but I wouldn't be surprised if its higher. All you have to do to determine a rough country of origin is give them an exam in the language of the country they claim to be from with every immigrant getting a different set of questions if they cannot answer them then it's most likely they are not from the country that the questions language were written in. Giving everyone the same questions just let's them send the questions back to the people who arranged their passage or to others from their country so they know the answers when they take the same exam with the same questions.

It isn't ever that simple, as a lot of countries have a lot of different languages and communities. Iraq has several such groups, such as the Kurdish folks, and they spill over into Syria, and Turkey, and in those areas, are not well treated at all. It was a bit rich of the Turkish President to be condemning Israel over Gaza, when his treatment of the Kurds, leaves much to be desired. Again, many of those who try to get to UK, have links, and already family. And it is to be noted, many who are against more immigrants, and refugees, etc, forget, a lot of them are from the old British Empire. They want the Empire back, but don't want anything to do with the folks they once ruled! And it has not gone unnoticed that a good many tory politicians girning off about immigration and refugees, etc, are themselves from parents who came from said olden Empire! Others being born themselves in other countries. Isn't one of them from Iraq? I guess the difference between these tories and others, is these ones were rich!
One other thing that gets lost in all of this, is that those making the effort, paying fortunes to smugglers, and the like, they don't get told about Rwanda ideas, or how unsafe it might be to get over the English Channel. They probably get all kinds of promises, and in some cases, are told they will be going to an entirely different country. One boy found by Police in the north of England thought he was in Canada!
Much more effort must be made to dealing with these ruthless people smuggling groups.
One last point about UK immigration figures, separate from the refuge debate is that they include over seas students going to university for a few years. That has never made any sense to me. This inclusion skews the numbers way out of proportion to reality! That's not to say there are areas where it does look like too many incoming folks to one place, or there are bogus claims, however, the UK Govt. isn't helping matters much with its counting in of the students who pay vast fortunes to those colleges, or its own inept way of doing things in general.

It's a complicated subject immigration and if gordo is right and these people are not told about Rwanda etc then it makes you wonder what the policy is all about. Even if a plane got off the ground it will only take a tiny percentage. No. All the evidence is that it's a performance to get a few extra votes. And a handy distraction from all the other failures and debacles. And nothing else at all.
