The Chancellor's new Budget has created a bit of a nightmare for Public Services for the coming next few years, and according to some, it will be the worst for at least 80 years! Rather than use the billions he had available to invest in essential services and to help cash strapped Local Councils, etc, he chose to help out the better off at the expense of those who earn less. Folks have already pointed out that those on lower incomes will be even poorer after recent Tax changes, while those who get above £50,000 per year will be slightly better off. While there has been a few (precious few that is) welcome points, such as allowing more families to get child benefits, there has been too many negative things overall, to make much a difference to far too many folks. Clearly these millionaire politicians think the plebs will be deliriously happy at getting an extra £5, or so a week! So suddenly they will all go out and vote tory now! Labour are not any better, as they have pledged more or less the same Austerity measures if they get into power. from ITV News.................. www.itv.com/news/2024-03-07/why-the-ifs-thinks-labour-and-the-tories-are-being-dishonest

The budget by any government gives with one hand and takes more back with the other hand.

You may wonder if we have the biggest Tax burden since 1948, why is Public Spending so low ? NHS on it's knees due to 14 years of underfunding. Schools crumbling etc etc. The answer is they are using the extra Tax to pay off the Public Debt and reduce the so called "deficit", Except that's a myth. It doesn't exist. The "debt" is just a savings account with the UK and the deficit is supposed to be the difference between the tax take and spending. Except all spending is new money from the Bank of England.
