I don't think any one of them will be of much use. We can rule out either Cameron or Johnson. Cameron is still in House of Lords, and while in past centuries, it was the done thing, having a Lord as Prime Minister, in this day and age, he'd need to be an MP. And it would be less likely to be a Lord in charge of Conservatives if they were in Opposition. It simply would not be acceptable. And Boris Johnson isn't standing for Parliament, not that we know of anyway, and it is doubtful he would be elected anyhow. Mordaunt seems to be the more reasonable of the various choices.
However, so extreme has many MPs become over the past few years, anything is possible, and even if they lost the Government, these extreme minded politicians would be blind to that very extremist outlook, being a big part of it.
That said, Labour itself has become so rightwing, there is precious little difference between tory and Labour these days!

You are right in what you say gordo. Also I for one had never heard of Cameron when he emerged from the pack as leader. On a blog I often read someone put forward a name that is well known in conservative circles who again, I'd never heard of. The suggestion was that this person might be given a safe seat in one of the many retiring MP's constituencies and then stand for leader after the election. That's if SUNK stands down only after the election has been lost of course.

There is speculation that the SUNKEN or should that be SHRUNKEN man might just call an election this coming week to stave off any move from within against him in light of disastrous local election results. www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/27/let-rishi-sunak-get-on-with-the-job-says-grant-shappsThe only changes in the betting to my above observations is that Priti Patel has shortened (no pun intended) to 11/2 - 14/1. The 11/2 is with Paddy Power who previously were 8/1 for Ms Patel. Again this could indicate £££ has been placed on her with that particular bookie, but who knows.
