It's back! The famous Gordo weather news.........
And back with a Big Bang, too. We have both Yellow and Amber Warnings out for winds covering much of British Isles and for Highland Scotland, snow.
From Friday, November 26, thru Saturday, 27, a Yellow Warning for strong winds covers all of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the entire western coastal areas of England and Wales, right down to Devon and Cornwall, areas. Runs from Friday 09:00 'till all day Saturday thru to midnight (Saturday 23:59.)
However also on Friday for the east of Scotland from Orkney down thru to eastern England, including Newcastle, Tyne, to Scarborough areas, there is an Amber Warning for the winds, running from 15:00, thru 'till 09:00, Saturday.
Winds can be up to Strom 10 - Violent Storm 11 in some of these parts. Even tho many areas especially in western Scotland will have a sunny day on Saturday, (a mix of sun and light rains on the Friday) the wind will be significant, and most likely there will be a severe windchill effect, regardless of any sun in the sky!
Also within this Amber and Yellow Warning area, for Highland parts of Scotland, from north and west of Inverness into Grampian mountains, a Yellow Warning for snow. Combined with the strong winds, this creates a blizzard condition. This will affect mainly rural areas, but major transport links to Inverness go thru these areas, so could be disruption to trains and road transport, there. The snow warning is for Friday, 14:00, to Friday midnight (23:59) at present, anyway.

More Yellow Warnings for Wind, this week, for Tuesday!
Met Office has issued Weather Warnings for this coming Tuesday, December 7th, from 09:00 Hrs, to midnight on Tuesday. This is mainly for wind, covering the whole of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Also taking in eastern Scotland along Borders, Edinburgh, and up to top of Grampian to Fraserburgh.
However, within this, there is a heavy Snow Warning, for Central Highlands, (Aviemore, Grampian areas, etc) Central Scotland down thru Glasgow into Dumfries & Galloway to western Borders (Peebles area) and goes into Central England, down to just north and west of Manchester. This will take in areas like Carlisle, Penrith, Skipton, and Bradford, etc. Not all places within this zone will get snow, but some areas on the higher ground might well get a fair bit of it. In general, the lower the ground, the less the snow, but as we are dealing with inland areas, lower areas could get a bit, but combined with high winds will make things difficult.
So, beware for Tuesday! .

More Gale Force Yellow Warnings, with Amber Warnings thrown in for good measure!

And then for the Sunday into Monday, a far larger area of England, which goes from an arc in East Anglia, over to Liverpool, including Manchester, Sheffield areas and everywhere in England north of that, and again to cover the whole of Scotland, and Western Isles, and parts of Northern Ireland. Met Office has issued both Amber and Yellow Warnings for Wednesday thru Friday (February 16-19) of this week for 2 different storms approaching the British Isles. Ireland also has warnings out for some areas.
Storm Dudley hits northern areas, Wednesday into Thursday. Then another storm hits all England, and southern Scotland, Friday, Storm Eunice!
Wednesday into Thursday. Yellow Warning runs from 15:00 Wednesday, to 18:00 Thursday.......... Yellow Warning For all Northern Ireland and all of Scotland, (excepting only Shetland) into northern England from very north of Wales with Anglesey, taking in Liverpool area, over to Hull, including Leeds areas. However, within this Yellow Warning, an overlapping Amber Warning is out for all of Central Scotland, including most of Argyll and southern Scotland into northern England, down to Lancaster, over to York. This Amber Warning will run from later on Wednesday, at 18:00 Hrs 'til Thursday 09:00 Hrs.
Then following on from this, again we have Yellow Warning for Storm Eunice. This one runs from midnight Thursday (Friday 00:00 Hrs) for all day Friday, 'till 21:00 Hrs But this time taking in all of England and Wales, again with all of Northern Ireland, and southern Scotland up to Ayr thru to Edinburgh areas.
So from about just after midday on the Wednesday thru to near end of Friday, we can expect severe gales and storm force winds. Not too much rains, but some areas will get the odd burst of heavy rains, but for most it will be more a mix of showerey weather, and clear spells. However, the winds will be the main problem. There is potential for a fair bit of disruption in areas within the Amber Warning zones as we have seen with recent storm weather. Be Prepared!

More Storm Updates!
As hinted at earlier, Met Office has now indeed raised the alert level for Friday's Storm Eunice to Amber Warning, this for much of England, and all Wales. From not quite a straight line which covers Liverpool and Manchester, but skipping Sheffield areas (for now) up to Hull, all the way down for rest of England, and Wales, this Amber Warning runs from Friday 03:00 Hrs 'till 21:00 Hrs, Friday night.
And for good measure, there is another Yellow Warning out for much of Scotland on the Friday, this time for more wind, and a good bit of heavy snow thrown in! Again from 03:00 Hrs on the Friday, but to 18:00 Hrs Friday evening. This is everywhere north of the Amber line, so will include Sheffield! And also all Northern Ireland into Scotland to just north of the Central Belt Areas north of that have Yellow Warning today for snow and ice, etc.
And if you good guys think that's it for the weekend, well kinda. But we await a possible Storm Franklin for early next week!!!
Some might be surprised when I say, I've been surprised at the lack of such weather of late. For usually, with particularly mild weather at this time of year as we have had in most places, it tends to be rather windy, and lots of rains. A thing I have observed over the years. But now the weather systems are making up for lost ground it would seem. Tho I think it a bit unusual to have so many storms one right after the other, like this.

I think we are seeing the early stages of our climate breaking down in ways we can hardly imagine. Of course most of us won't be here to see the worst of it. It's a bit blowy here I must say. (essex).

That's my view of it too, Phil. It has been very unusual weather we have been getting, these past few years, especially. Now Met Office has given out a Red Warning for storm force winds for all north Cornwall, up to Bristol areas, and southern Wales! This the Beeb Report on the upcoming storm From BBC News............. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60417263

Amidst all the chaos of fires all over the place, we do have one incredible story that gives us of cheer. Firefighters in Maltby, South Yorkshire find small bull dog alive after it hid under a bed! It stayed there and survived a house fire for 4 hours! Fire was caused by grassfire spreading to houses. from ITV News....................... www.itv.com/news/calendar/2022-07-20/miracle-dog-survives-as-house-burns-down-by-hiding-under-bed............................................................................................... And on mentioning fires, London should have been under a State of Emergency, but where was the Govt? We had Boris spinning round and round on a fighter plane, or holding various farewell dos! And mind, folks, it was Mayor Boris, who closed down 10 London city fire stations. Over 11,500 firefighter posts have been lost across England since 2010. Yet the tories couldn't care one we bit! And now we have MP Elizabeth Truss wanting to cut even more of these vital Public Services, for how else will she pay for her beloved Tax cuts?
