Gas fire on this morning for the first time since about May. Ah the smell of burning dust. I get it every year when I fire up for the first time in months.

The cold weather is set to last right thru next week. Some areas have been hit ny snowstorms, while many others looks as if it did snow, but is actually hard frost! As you say, the pictures are pretty, and it looks rather like olden times Christmas!! However, I heard that flights all over the place have been cancelled because of the cold weather. Abar in Sussex opened to allow 2 dozen stranded motorists to stay overnight, including children after they got trapped in the snowfall. That story is the last of the 3 news reports below. Here's a few stories from BBC News.............. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-63930618www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63939132www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-63941122

An UPdate on the Weather. The extreme cold temps we have seen for almost 2 weeks, comes to end from tonight (Sunday) for most areas across UK. Temperatures are due t rise quite dramatically over the next few days, and going above 10 Degrees C. However, they vegin too go way back down by end of this week, thoo not to the freezings levels we have had.
But with this increase in temps, there is also a lot of rain on the way, and Met Office has several Yellow Warnings out for this heavy rain. Parts of south Wales, and most of the southern coastal areas of England from Plymouth to Brighton come under these Yellow Warnings running from this sunday evening (started at 18:00) thru Tuesday morning 06:00.
This weather change will be a bit of a relief for many, with the huge rise in heating costs. However, it being winter, folks will still have to keep their heating on, regardless.

Amber and Yellow Warnings for Snow! Met Office has upgraded Weather Warnings for some areas from Yellow to Amber. Amber Warning for Central England (Pennines area) runs from 07:00 Thursday, March 9th (today) till midday, 12:00, Friday. The Amber Warning covers rural parts, but also high density urban areas, such as Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford., and beyond. There are several Yellow Warnings for snows affecting all Northern Ireland, much of Scotland, and large areas of England. Again running from 07:00, but slightly longer, ''till 14:00 Friday. Even if some places don't get much if any snow, while other areas get a fair amount, it will be very cold everywhere across UK. A huge contrast to recent mild weather.
However, at this time of year, such extreme weather tends not to last too long. But it will be coldish, into next week.
