Met Office has new Yellow Warnings out for Wednesday into Thursday September 27th-28th, for strong winds and heavy rains covering most of British Isles. Storm Agnes, named by the Irish Met Office, is due to hit Wednesday bringing near to hurricane force winds in some places, alongside heavy rains in some areas.
Most of the concern here, is with the winds, however.
From Midday 12:00 Hrs thru 'till 07:00 Thursday morning, a strong wind Yellow Warning is out and covers an area including Cornwall, Devon and from a line going from Bath up to just north of Peterborough, with everything north under this wind warning. Including all of Wales, Ireland, and all of mainland Scotland and Western Isles. East Anglia and souhern England east of Devon are outside of this one. Orkney and Shetland also escape from this one at present time. Tho all areas will be rather wet and windy, regardless.
The heavy rain warning is for parts of Scotland, southern Ayr, Dumfries & Galloway, along with some parts of the Central Belt west of Glasgow and into Argyll, and Stirling thru to Tayside areas. That one runs from tomorrow afternoon (15:00) to midnight.
I guess we can expect more of this weather as the autumn turns into winter!

Everyone must surely agree the climate is warming up though. Last Autumn was pretty mild and I'm expecting the same most years now. Nothing too chilly till November.

IMHO climate change is a con, we will have a few years where it's warmer for longer then we will have a few years where it is colder and a few years where it's in between those two levels.

I can't see what the motive would be for conning the whole world. It would mean the scientific consensus were all in it together to do this con. A consensus is reached when over 90% scientists agree on something. I can easily see why big oil would con us into thinking it's a con though. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Regards the debate on climate, etc, it has been evident for decades now, that there has been a marked change in weather patterns. This was noticed as far back as the mid 1980s, with less snow fall on the Scottish mountains, when previously there would have been plenty snow. That in fact was a rather sudden change in weather patterns. Things seemed to change almost within a few years. Also, we have seen some times in February, the sun and heat, and next to everyone in shorts and t shirts. Some of us would certainly have our shorts on, but with only a t shirt in the 2nd week of February? That would never have been so 20 years earlier, but now, sometimes our weather in these winter months can be better than summer months, and a lot less rain too! That's not to say we don't get winter weather, but that there can be some days when it's almost like summer, then a week or two later, we get a cold snap, and it can be freezing, when in previous years, it was always freezing that entire month! That doesn't happen so much now.
However, the debate should not so much be a changing climate, but how we deal with it, and if we can actually help matters, and there, we have the major problem!
I do not think Mankind can actually do that much to stop things the way some like to think we can. Although there are measures we can all take to help in our own way, such as recycling, and doing our bit to cut down on pollution, etc. But can we really stop the climate changing as such? That I do wonder.
But also, some of the ideas being floated around about Green initiatives, such as no more oil and gas, etc, is I think can a bit over exaggerated.
There is one other factor, that too many seem to ignore, and I think it should be taken account of, is all these huge wars of the past century, and still major conflicts ongoing today.
By which I mean, the massive scale of destruction, the fires raging in cities, and the atomic bomb testing we saw all over the place right up to the 1970s.
That must surely have had an impact on the climate!

Someone did a video on You Tube about the temperatures a while ago, I think it was chillijoncarne, showing weather maps and they recent map was putting 40 plus degrees in some countries in red when a map from 10 years ago put the temperatures in green with similar temperatures and the BBC were claiming these countries had record temperatures and people in those countries said that 40 degrees was the normal temperature for their country at that time of the year. The BBC were even increasing the temperature by 8 to 10 degrees to put their claims across.

At present Met Office has both Amber and Yellow Warnings, (running from early morning to 06:00 Sunday) for heavy rains in Scotland. Yellow Warning covers most of mainland Scotland (and for Western Isles from 21:00 Saturday to 14:00 Sunday )
Another Yellow Warning runs from 21:00 tonight to 15:00 Sunday fro parts of the Grampian and Highlands. However there is an overlapping Amber Warning for parts of areas of Glasgow and to the west and parts of Highlands, into Stirling and Perth. Again, a 2nd overlapping Amber Warning for North East, including Angus, Badenoch area, and Moray for 21:00 to Sunday 14:00. These areas are expected to get up to 7 inches of rain, which is about a months worth of rain within 24 hours. That's a huge amount of rain. Similar rainfalls caused chaos in New York City last Friday, There they got a months of rain in a just a few hours.
While we get the usual glib comments about it always raining this time of year, this level is not to be dismissed so casually!
Meanwhile, for parts of England, it is record high temps for October! London for example set to get sunshine and 24 degrees Centigrade over the weekend.

More Met Office Warnings out, for Storm Babet. All of Ireland have already felt the force of this weather, with heavy rains and strong winds. All Ireland being under a Yellow Warning since around early afternoon, until 10:00 tomorrow. However, there is a complicated set of various warnings in force for different areas starting Thursday continuing thru to Saturday. We have Yellow, Amber and Red Warnings for both rain and wind, and so it is not a simple forecast.
Thursday October 19th .... Yellow Warning. 06:00 to 06:00, Saturday, for much of Scotland excepting western Highland areas. This same applies to northern eastern England, from 18:00, and includes Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, and Newcastle to the Scottish Border. Overlapping this are areas of Scotland under Amber and Red warnings, Amber for Perth to Aberdeen areas, and also wind and Red for rain, in parts of Angus into Kincardine. Folks in this area have been warned not to go out, and not to travel and run from 18:00 Thursday, to 09:00 Friday, for these areas, but still within the earlier warning zones. Additionally for all of northern Scotland, a high wind warning, which also includes Fife. This from 03;00 Thursday to midday, Friday.
Friday October 20th .... Yellow Warning, South East England including Portsmouth, Brighton, Kent and most of London area, for rain. This one runs from 06:00 to 20:00, on the Friday.. Again another warning for winds, that run from Essex coast all the way up to Northern Aberdeenshire to Fraserburgh, runs from midday (12:00) to midday Saturday.
There will be some areas within these warning zones that see very heavy rains, with periods of less rain. But also storm force winds. Many trains in Scotland have already been cancelled, with no alternative transport in some of these parts, as I'm guessing it won't be deemed safe. Major cities and rural areas will be affected.

I've just run the observation simulator on the met office website and overnight looked quite bad but not as bad as was forecast, not tha much red which indicates the highrst amount of rainfall. it;s the wind that could cause problems i think. outside here is a bit dank but nothing dramatic (essex).

Met Office has a slew of Yellow and Amber Warnings out for both rain and winds across all of British Isles, with Ireland also having Amber/Orange Warnings, and even Red for western parts! The Yellow Warning for strong gale force winds comes into effect from midday today, Sunday 21st, and covers all of UK. However from 18:00 today, the Amber Warning takes effect for much of England and Wales, all of Scotland and Northern Ireland and runs 'till 06:00. Monday morning. This is due to Strom Isha. In between all this wind which can be up to Violent Storm 11 level in some parts of western Scotland, there are various warnings for rain, mainly for higher ground in north west England, and much of Wales, and central Highlands of Scotland. Only parts of south East England avoid the Amber wind warning, so that that is Oxford area, East Anglia, and London. Tho this area still comes under the Yellow Warning for wind. But all of the English southern coastal areas from Kent to Cornwall is under the Amber Waring along with the rest of England.
So expect a very windy next few days!

Meanwhile, the next 2 days will see the new Storm Jocelyn hit across UK and another Amber Warning for parts of western and Highland Scotland, Tuesday into Wednesday, alongside more Yellow Warnings for heavy rain in places!
