My wife had her PIP (Review) telephone assessment, you know the one hour one, that lasts 1.30hrs. She got asked all the normal stuff, only asked about 2 of her minor conditions for some reason.
But the one that got me was... 'And what stops you working?', I just thought straight away, does he know this is a PIP assessment and not a Work Capability Assessment?
So now and waiting for the report just to see what other things will appear and as always will just tackle them and rip them to shreds as per normal, all legally of course.
But it did make me wonder as anybody else had strange or irrelevant questions asked?

I had my PIP phone assessment yesterday and had all the usual questions, but was asked why my wife deals with all the finances I did ask what's that got to do with my condition, and she replied nothing really just wondering why you don't get involved with the money side of your marriage.
But it did puzzle me why they would ask that though.

I never put and phone number in my form because I say the phone numbers are for friends and family and they're on neither list.

Pleased but shocked, 3 weeks!!! after the telephone assessment my wife got a letter this morning increasing her award from middle to enhanced care and enhanced mobility (which she was already on), and what is more, it is now for 10 years!!!!
I have been arguing for a longer award since they introduced PIP and finally they listened.

personally I would record it without telling them. Then if you need to, you can produce the recording at a Tribunal which if it shows an obvious discrepancy would count heavily in your favour. Why should we give them anything when most of the time it seems as though they are trying to take things away from us ? Can you let us know how it goes on 27th Joe please. Cheers.

On any form I send the DWP I put ALL VERBAL COMMUNICATION WILL BE AUDIO RECORDED but I will phone them, withholding my mobile number, and ask for it recording. I never put and contact details except the address in the forms, if they say they want a phone number I will say I don't have a landline and my mobile number is for friends and family only and they are on neither list. They can say whatever they like, something like without a phone number we won't be able to process the claim and I will put in a complaint saying that I only have to give them the info I want them to have and is deemed relevant to the case and nothing more.

I think you get an assessment rate if it's ESA but nothing if it's PIP until it's all sorted and if successful you get it all backdated.

What I find worrying is how the assessment for one benefit affects the other. If you get downgraded or refused PIP, that automatically can affect ESA as well as far as I know.

If you're awarded standard PIP it might affect your ESA by not getting the higher premium on ESA but getting the highest enhanced PIP still doesn't mean that the ESA part of UC will increase. Just because a person gets enhanced PIP doesn't mean they are awarded the extra ESA premium that means that they are unable to do any work related activity.
